How it works

Four steps. Most letters take under two minutes from sign-in to mailed.

  1. 1

    Type your letter

Use our editor on any device. Larger fonts and clear paragraphs are best for older readers.

  2. 2

    Attach a photo (optional)

Photos of family, pets, or events are welcomed by most residents.

  3. 3

    Enter the resident's mailing address

Use the resident's full name, room or unit number on its own line, and the care home's street address.

  4. 4

    We mail within 24 hours

Mailed via Canada Post. The home staff route it to the resident as part of the daily mail round.

Who this is for

  • Adult children living far from a parent in a care home
  • Volunteers and pen-pal programs
  • Friends who want to stay in touch despite limited visiting hours

Common use cases

Weekly check-in letters

A short note every week or two — far more memorable than a phone call for residents with hearing loss.

Birthday and holiday cards

Mail a card or letter on every birthday, anniversary, and major holiday.

Family photos

Mail printed photos for residents to keep at their bedside.

Letters from grandchildren

Have kids dictate a letter and we mail it. Many residents post these letters on their wall.

Frequently asked questions

How should I address the envelope?

Use this format: resident's full name, room or unit number on its own line, the care home's name, and street address. Example: "Jane Doe / Room 214 / Maple Grove Long-Term Care / 123 Main St / Toronto, ON, M4B 1B3".

Will the home actually deliver the letter to the resident?

Yes. Canadian long-term care homes and retirement residences sort incoming mail and deliver it to residents as part of regular operations. If the resident has moved units recently, include the most recent room number you have.

Can I send to a resident with dementia or limited reading ability?

Yes. Care home staff often read mail aloud to residents with cognitive or vision impairment. Photos and short, simple letters work especially well for these residents.

Can I attach photos?

Yes. You can attach up to five photos. They print on the same paper as the letter and arrive together.

How quickly can the resident expect it?

Mailed within 24 hours of payment. Canada Post delivers domestic letters in 2-4 business days; the home then routes it to the resident, usually the same day mail arrives at the facility.
