How cancelling Planet Fitness by mail works
- Planet Fitness only cancels a membership in writing — in person at the club, or by a signed letter mailed to your home club. Cancelling by phone, by email, or by stopping payment usually won’t end it and can trigger collections.
- Send it to your HOME club — the location where you signed up — not to Planet Fitness corporate. Clubs are franchise-operated and each handles its own members’ cancellations.
- Include your full name, address, phone, email, and membership/key-tag ID number, then date and sign the letter and ask for written confirmation of the cancellation and your final billing date.
- Mail it by certified (US) or registered (Canada) mail with a return receipt so you have proof of the date it was received — the strongest defence if the billing continues.
- Send it at least a week before your next billing date: cancellations can take 7–10 business days, and the annual fee can still hit if you cut it close.
