Key facts

  • Ontario splits by the FIRST LETTER of your postal code: L, M or N goes to Scarborough (PO Box 5100, Station D, M1R 5C8); K or P goes to Timmins (PO Box 2013, Station Main, P4N 8C8).
  • Applying from outside Canada? Use the address for the province where you last resided before leaving.
  • OAS and GIS use the same regional addresses — one envelope covers both if you are applying together.
  • Questions before you mail? The OAS help line is 1-800-277-9914.
  • No printer? PostPal prints and mails your application for $6 flat, deposited with Canada Post the next business day.

How to mail it, step by step

  1. 1

Check whether you need to apply at all

Many people are enrolled in OAS automatically and receive a letter saying so. If Service Canada asked you to apply — or you never got an automatic-enrolment letter — complete the OAS application (and the GIS section if your income qualifies).

  2. 2

Complete and sign the paper forms

Fill in every section, sign and date the application, and attach any certified documents the form asks for (such as proof of legal status if you were born outside Canada).

  3. 3

Find your regional Service Canada address

Match your province in the cards above. In Ontario, check the first letter of your own postal code: L, M or N means Scarborough; K or P means Timmins. If you live abroad, use the province where you last resided.

  4. 4

    Mail your application

Send the signed application and attachments in one envelope and keep a copy for yourself. Upload it to PostPal and we print, envelope, and deposit it with Canada Post the next business day — $6 flat.

Common questions

Where do I mail my OAS application if I live in Ontario?

It depends on the first letter of your postal code. If it starts with L, M or N, mail to Service Canada, PO Box 5100, Station D, Scarborough ON M1R 5C8. If it starts with K or P, mail to Service Canada, PO Box 2013, Station Main, Timmins ON P4N 8C8.

I live outside Canada — where do I send my OAS application?

Use the Service Canada address for the province or territory where you last resided before leaving Canada. For example, if you last lived in British Columbia, mail to PO Box 1177, Station CSC, Victoria BC V8W 2V2.

Do OAS and GIS applications go to the same address?

Yes. The Guaranteed Income Supplement is part of the OAS program, and both paper applications go to the same regional Service Canada office for your province. If you are applying for both, you can mail them in the same envelope.

Do I need to apply for OAS, or is it automatic?

Many people are enrolled automatically and receive a letter from Service Canada the month after they turn 64. If you did not get that letter, or it asked you to apply, you must submit an application — online through My Service Canada Account or by mailing the paper form to your regional office.

Who do I call if I am not sure which address to use?

Call the OAS and CPP help line at 1-800-277-9914 (Monday to Friday). An agent can confirm the right regional office, check what documents to attach, and tell you the status of an application you have already mailed.

Can PostPal mail my OAS application for me?

Yes. Upload your completed, signed application as a PDF and PostPal prints it, envelopes it, and deposits it with Canada Post the next business day — $6 flat. Note that documents requiring originals or certified copies must be mailed by you; PostPal is ideal for the application form itself.
